Decent tool, some minor issues

I used Transkriptor for a few academic interviews. The core AI Audio to Text function is quite good, and speaker identification was helpful. The Collaborative Editor made it easier to clean up the text with my team. However, I did notice that some specialized terminology in my field wasn't always picked up correctly, requiring more manual corrections than I'd hoped. Delivery of the TXT Export was fast, though. Overall, a solid tool for the price, but there's room for improvement on niche vocabulary.

Helped with my YouTube captions

So I had this YouTube video and really needed subtitles for it. Tried Transkriptor's YouTube Video to Text thing and it worked out pretty well. Uploaded the link, got the text, and then generated the SRT file. Super easy. I didn't have to fiddle around too much. Made my video way more accessible, which is cool.

Needed to transcribe an interview. Uploaded the audio file. It processed quickly. Exported as TXT. Accurate enough for my needs. Simple to use.

Got a great deal on annual plan

I was looking for a good transcription service and stumbled upon Transkriptor. Saw they had a 50% off deal if you switched from monthly to annual billing. That was a big saving. For the amount of content I need transcribed, the annual plan was definitely the best value. The AI Audio to Text feature worked well for my podcasts. Felt like I got a lot for what I paid.

Incredible for lecture notes

Okay, Transkriptor saved my life this semester! I used the Dictation Tool for all my lectures, and the AI Notetaker was just fantastic. I used to spend hours typing up notes, and now it's all done for me. The Mobile Transcription App is also super convenient. I can just record on my phone and it's there. My grades are definitely going to thank me. I'm telling everyone in my class about this!

Always reliable for meetings

I've used Transkriptor for a while now, mostly for meeting notes. It's consistently good. Every time I have a meeting, I know I can rely on the AI Notetaker. Accuracy is pretty much what I expect; sometimes I need to tweak a few words, but it's much better than doing it myself. It's why I keep coming back for my transcription needs.

Is it easy to export transcripts to Word or text files? Need to edit them offline after.

P Paula 2 months ago
Yeah, totally. I export to .txt all the time, super straightforward from the editor.

They have options for Word docs too, even SRT files if you're making subtitles. Pretty flexible for exports.

Is Transkriptor accurate enough for academic interviews?

R RahulPatel 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
For my research interviews, it was mostly good. Had to clean up some jargon and mumbled bits, but saved me hours.

Yeah, same. Speaker ID works well though.

Did you use the mobile app or desktop?

Depends on audio quality. Clear audio, pretty accurate. Noisy background? Forget about it without serious editing.

I used it for a few focus groups, it's decent. Not perfect, but way faster than doing it by hand.

Hey, wondering how good Transkriptor is compared to Otter.ai? I mostly need it for meeting notes.

M Marcus Doyle 1 month ago
I've used both. Transkriptor feels a bit more accurate for me, especially with multiple speakers. Otter is good too but sometimes struggles with accents.

K Kevin Romero 1 month ago
Otter's free tier gives you more minutes, but Transkriptor's paid plans are pretty competitive. I found its speaker ID to be a bit better.

I saw something about a student discount for Transkriptor. How do I get that?

C Carly H. 1 month ago
I think you usually just go to their pricing page or a specific student discount link on their site and verify your student status there. Worth checking out, saves a bunch.

D Derek 1 month ago
Yup, definitely a thing. I got one for my masters program last year. Just need a valid student email or ID for verification.

How accurate are the transcriptions, especially if there's some background noise or someone with an accent?

L Laura A. 1 month ago
It's pretty good, not perfect with super heavy accents or really noisy backgrounds but better than trying to type it myself. You'll still need to do a quick proofread.

T Troy 1 month ago
I use it for my podcasts and it handles different voices and a bit of music surprisingly well. Maybe 90-95% accurate on a good day. The editing tools help clean up the rest.
